I love making dresses and often get inspired when I have a party or special event planned. But this means most of my dresses are far too dressy to ever wear to work and they end up staying in my closet most of the time.
This one is my very first “work” dress!
The pattern is Simplicity 2648 from the Amazing Fit collection. I chose view A without the belt and cut the average fit pieces. The fit was actually too wide so I took the bodice and skirt in about 1/2 inch on each side and then it fitted perfectly. If I make this dress again I will probably cut it in a slim fit.
I loved making this dress. The instructions – like all Simplicity patterns – were extremely clear. The fun sleeves make the classic style a little more exciting and the princess line is very flattering.
I think I’ll make view C next: love the small sleeves and I think I definitely need at least another dress I can wear to work. Maybe a little black dress inspired by the shop in the Palais Royal gallery where these photos were taken: La Petite Robe Noire.
