Have you ever seen an outfit on someone in the street or on the web and got so obsessed with it that you ABSOLUTELY had to have it?
Well this skirt that I saw on Betty’s blog was my obsession for several weeks:

I decided I wanted to make my own Charleston fringes so I went to almost every fabric shop in Paris to find what I needed. I finally found them at Le Marché Saint Pierre near Montmartre (check out my post on where to shop for fabric in Paris here).
Here is how it turned out:
I made a basic straight skirt using New Look 6843 pattern. I have used this versatile pattern many times so I have it down by now: cut a size 10 and take the front darts down 1/2″ on each side. For this skirt I moved the zip to the side, removed the waist piece so it would sit lower on the hips and then added 3 layers of black fringes. Both the skirt and the fringes are made of a really soft shiny black velvet fabric.
I think it turned out pretty well and I love wearing it to spice up a simple outfit!
